Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Ok so Six random things about myself;
1) Well I hate talking about myself...
2) I love plants and my apartment is slowly being over taken by them.
3) I've never been to Canada, but I've backpacked throughout Europe.
4) I am very competitive and I hate loosing at any type of game, but I've gotten better (I don't hit people who beat me anymore).
5) I just held a Chihuahua a month ago for the first time and fell in love with the dog. Always thought I'd hate them, but it was like holding a little furry baby.
6) My Grandma gave me crazy Leopard print sheets for Christmas and I'm not sure I'll ever use them...not my style.

Now I guess I'm supposed to tag other people and make them do this too.
http://betsylearning.wordpress.com/

http://froggy300.wordpress.com/

http://madkitty.wordpress.com/

Well this is all I could come up with, it is hard trying to find people who haven't done it yet.

Wikis

Well I have to say after watching the video I got a little excited about how useful a wiki could be. Then I started looking at some actual wikis and I was a little disappointed. Many of the wikis that I saw just seemed like a weak version of a website. I looked at the Michigan Library's wiki http://mlcnet.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page and most of the information on it just seemed like the normal things anyone would find on a regular homepage. On the other hand I did come across a wiki that gives a tutorial about creating an online survey, which could be very handy http://trainingwiki.pbwiki.com/ (although it is 44 pages long!). I believe wikis have some great potential, but there also seems to be a lot of crap that people have to wade through to get to the good stuff.

I Have Internet at Home!

mario kart yoshi
Originally uploaded by jboots05

Finally I got internet at my apartment so now I feel connected to the world. I have Facebook, after my friend made an account for me since I was reluctant to get in contact with people from my High School, and Twitter as some similarities to Facebook that I don't like. Facebook has that Home Page were people can read what everyone is doing. People can be very nosy about everyone's business. I don't want people knowing if I'm sleepy or late for work, etc. No one is that special and who actually cares? It isn't news worthy if I take a poo. I also don't have internet at home right now so it would be really hard to update this thing. By the way my name for twitter is JamieLKay, but I don't think I'll be using it.

Twitter for the library could work as a way to update people about library closing or upcoming events. But they would have to be following the twitter feed and I just don't see people doing that is large groups. Teens might...but only if they already have a Twitter account.

Library Thing (WLS Learns #7)

Ok so this doesn't look all that different from Shelfari. I'm kind of disappointed that the kid doesn't have orange hair though....Anyway this kid has some weird features, but overall looks ok.

Rayman Raving Rabbids

Rayman Raving Rabbids
Originally uploaded by DsWii

This is one of the crazy bunnies that I had to smack upside the head or shoot with plungers.

Technology

Well since I can write about any Technology that I want then I will tell everyone who is reading this blog that my arms and KILLING me! So I got the wii for myself a few weeks ago and then this weekend I bought the game "Rayman Raving Rabbids." This game made me do more exercise then I have done in two years. All I was doing was waving my arms around like a mad person since I had to throw cows and smack bunnies upside the head. The game is weird but very fun and addicting. Currently I don't have internet at my apartment and to be honest I don't really feel like I'm missing much. Books and video games seem to be good enough for me.

Getting back to this WLS learns thing I would have to say that the exercises have been helpful overall. I wasn't afraid of delving into new technology I just never found much of a reason to do so before now. I do see that some of this might be helpful in a library setting and it is important to stay current with things that teens are doing.

Blogroll

Ok so I add a Blogroll which consist of the participants on WLS Learns. My first response is Holy Crap there is way to much information bombarding me at once! If people want updates of from all of the websites they visit it wouldn't be so bad if it was just a few sites. On the other hand I had signed up for over 14 feeds and until I stuck them all in folders it looked way too messy for me. Personally I like going to the websites I have saved on my favorites because I like to see the design and layout of them. Bloglines seems to loose the image quality and is just straight up information. The only thing I would really use this for would be if I wanted updated info for News websites. I honstely do not like reading random people's blogs and my friends don't keep one.

But just incase anyone was wondering what my Bloglines looks like here is the public link:
http://www.bloglines.com/public/JamieKay

Mappr

So I like the idea of Mappr, but it also looks like a stalker would make great use of this tool. Sometimes I'm not as patient as I should be when it comes to teaching people things that I might take for granted (like how to use a computer).
The Easiest habit for me is to View Problems as a Challenge. I don't get really frustrated with technology, I like to try and figure things out if I can. I know I need to have the same attitude with teaching others that I do with learning technology, which is something that I am really working on.

Still Unsure

Still not sure if this is registered with WLS Learns...

I don't know if I did this right....

I hope this worked for that WLS Learns thing.
